SYNOPSIS:

Meet IGBY SLOCUMB (Kieran Culkin),
an iconoclastic young teenager and hapless product
of a deplorable upbringing. Igby is the youngest
member of the Slocumb family which, in reality,
is four individuals reluctantly sharing familial
blood ties, existing under one roof. The father,
JASON SLOCUMB (Bill Pullman), is in the midst of
a sojourn not just from work but from life in general.
Igby's mother, MIMI SLOCUMB (Susan Sarandon), is
a battle-hardened, icy-cold matriarch with a long-term
dependency on friendly sedatives-her "little peppies."
Igby's older brother, OLIVER SLOCUMB (Ryan Phillippe),
has set his cruise control for Columbia University
and is eager to embrace young Republicanism. Oliver
personifies everything that Igby is not; and, though
the two brothers are separated by three years, Igby
has struggled since day one to emerge from Oliver's
persistent shadow.

SYNOPSIS:
|
Different subgenres are "revived"
all the time... this movie looks like it might be
hoping to revive the "teenage gang movie" of the
1950's? Maybe the time is right... the underlying
psychology behind many of those movies was that
Americans were increasingly afraid of their teenagers
at some unconscious level (or at least, this is
what they teach you in American Studies 101); and
one of the top issues since Columbine and the other
teen massacres is that Americans don't understand
their teenagers (have we ever?).

SYNOPSIS:

This project has been on director
John Woo's plate for quite a while now, or at least
it feels that way mostly because his latest film,
Mission: Impossible 2 took so long to finish. Now
that Woo is free, this project has gotten a start
date in August which will give Nicolas Cage time
to finish Captain Corelli's Mandolin. This will
be a big action movie in that Hong Kong style Woo
is known for, so expect a good deal of fan anticipation
in the months to come.
